Gameplay

Trading Card Game Mode

Shinayu is a mix of trading card game and 3D fighting game. The goal of players is to summon characters on the field and bring them to the opposite side in order to attack the opponents lifepoints directly. Every player has 3 lifepoints and each attack of a character reduces the lifepoints by 1. Each turn one character can be moved one field. Prior summoning a character to the field the corresponding dimension card needs to be played on the field. If 2 characters are one field away from each other, fight can be initiated and the game transitions into the 3D fighting game mode where players have to execute the fight manually. Now the mechanical skills of the players have the last word.

Energy Sphere

Energy sphere determines the amount of energy points that can be spent to play cards. Players gain every round additional energy points based on the round. After the 6th round every player gets 6 energy points per round.

Dimension Effect

The dimension effect applies on the game. Either items drop on the field that characters can pick up or it introduces a new rule to the game session. The effect can change at any time and will be illustrated with an animated screen.

Delimiter

The delimiter restricts the amount of spendable energy points in the current round based on the illustrated number. It changes every round randomly and applies for both players. Thereby the pay-to-win issue will be removed completely.

Transition Screen

Fighting Game Mode

After the transition screen the fight will start immediately. The two bars represent the amount of HP and mana of both characters respectively. Every character has the same basic abilities (attack, block, jump), additionally every character has 2 unique special abilities which require mana points. The special abilities are unique for each character and cannot be found in any other character in Shinayu. Once one character loses the fight the game transitions back to the card game mode and the lost character disappears from the game. The attributes illustrated on the character card directly reflects the fighting gameplay. The meaning of the attributes are explained in the next section.

Character Card

Bottom side illustrates the 5 combat attributes and the rank of the character. Starting from the left to the right: strength, agility, intelligence, rank, attack and block.

Positive Magic Card

This type of magic card has a positive effect. The 4 icons on the top represent in which game mode the card can be played and the duration of the card.

Negative Magic Card

This magic card activates a negative effect. The 4 icons, starting from the left: card game mode, fight game mode, permanent and one-time. The large thunder icon on the top right means the card can be activated in specific circumstances (e.g. when a character conducts a certain action or the opponent played a certain card) even during the opponents turn.

Dimension Card

Dimension cards are required to play character cards. If players want to summon an underworld character, they need to play min. 1 underworld dimension card first. It is a defined prerequisite. They can be considered as the environments of the characters. Characters gain certain buffs once they fight in their own environment. For example underworld characters gain more mana regeneration which enables them to use their special ability more frequently.
